About Granite Works Co
A design studio on North 50th Street in Milwaukee, working on brand and creative projects for businesses across Wisconsin.
Why we publish prices
Granite Works Co was founded to price design work the way a trade prices work.
Our designers had all worked where the quote was assembled after establishing the client's size and budget. It is standard practice, it has a respectable name, and it means two clients pay different amounts for identical work without either knowing.
The buyer cannot evaluate a creative quote. Without a reference price there is nothing to compare to, which is precisely the condition that makes discretionary pricing possible.
Revision boundaries are the second opacity. Most proposals leave the number of included rounds unstated, so the limit is discovered mid-project when raising it feels like an accusation.
So the rate card is public. A price per deliverable, a stated number of included rounds and a published cost for further ones. The nine-person firm and the three-hundred-person firm pay the same.
What you receive
Source files on completion. Layered working files rather than exported assets, so another studio can continue the work without rebuilding it.
Fonts licensed in your name, purchased for you rather than held under a studio licence that stops working when we part.
Print specification included. Artwork prepared to the printer's requirements, with print costs quoted separately and invoiced to you directly by the printer.
Revision rounds counted openly. You are told which round you are on, so reaching the limit is never a surprise.
What every client can expect
Published rate card
Every standard deliverable carries a price anybody can read before calling.
Same price, every client
The figure depends on the work rather than on the buyer.
Rounds included and counted
Stated in advance and tracked openly through the project.
Further rounds priced
A published figure, so going beyond the limit is a decision not a dispute.
Source files transferred
Layered working files handed over on completion.
Fonts in your name
Typeface licences purchased for the client, not held by us.
